Basketball Game Preview: South Houston Trojans vs. Dawson Eagles

The South Houston Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Dawson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Houston has three straight wins, Dawson has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Saturday, South Houston was able to grind out a solid victory over Manvel, taking the game 57-44.

Meanwhile, Dawson didn't have quite enough to beat Pearland on Saturday and fell 53-51. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Oilers are ranked 195th).

South Houston's win bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Dawson, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.

South Houston took their victory against Dawson when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 78-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Houston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
