Basketball Recap: Gunner Winiecki's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lehman over Lockhart

Lehman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lockhart Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lobos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-44 back in January.

Lehman's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gunner Winiecki, who went 6 of 9 to rack up 14 points and five steals. What's more, Winiecki also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Isaac Rivas was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Lehman's loss dropped their record down to 6-24. As for Lockhart, their victory bumped their record up to 18-16.

Coming up, Lehman will take on Cedar Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lockhart, they will head out to challenge Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
