Football Recap: Cupertino Falls to Independence in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Cupertino unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Independence 76ers by a score of 20-18 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 21-13 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, Cupertino still got an impressive performance from Brandon Cheng, who picked up 140 receiving yards.

Coming up, Cupertino will take on Evergreen Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Independence, they will face off against Piedmont Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
