Baseball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Diboll Lumberjacks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mavericks have suffered since March 9, 2024.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Diboll, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2-1.

Coming up, Marshall will head out to square off against Nacogdoches at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Diboll, they have already played their next game, a 7-0 loss against Rusk on the 8th.
