Basketball Recap: Lance Johnson Key Part of Team Effort in Thunderbirds Win

Wagner picked up another tournament win on Friday. They snuck past the Bishop Lynch Friars with a 42-38 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.

Wagner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lance Johnson out in front who posted seven points along with nine boards and four steals. Those four steals gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trevaun Clark, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Wagner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Wagner's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Bishop Lynch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Wagner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-25 victory against V.R. Eaton on the 5th. As for Bishop Lynch, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-57 loss against O'Connor on the 5th.
