Players To Watch

* King Sanders, Senior RB, Woodridge
Sanders ran for 1,063 yards and 21 touchdowns last year.

* Logan Thut, Senior RB, Crestwood
Thut was the all-Northeast Inland District Offensive Player of the Year.



* Colin Costanzo, Senior LB, Holy Name
Costanzo has 460 career tackles.

* Ray Anderson, Senior LB, Cardinal Mooney
Anderson holds offers from Eastern Michigan and Youngstown State.

* Mason Lydic, Junior QB, Woodridge
Lydic threw for 1,615 yards and 20 touchdowns last year.

* Dakari Carter, Senior ATH, Streetsboro
Carter holds nine scholarship offers.

* AJ Musolino, Senior DB/QB, Struthers
Musolino was the AAC Player of the Year and accounted for 26 touchdowns last year.

* Jeremiah Knight, Senior RB, Jefferson Area
Knight ran for 1,593 yards and 21 touchdowns last year.

Teams To Beat



* Crestwood (Mantua) – 8-2, Region 11 finalist
The Red Devils made back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in program history last year. It was the school's fourth trip overall. Expect another memorable run. Crestwood returns a potent offense led by senior running back Logan Thut (6-foot-2, 190 pounds), the reigning all-Northeast Inland District Offensive Player of the Year. Thut ran for 1,973 yards and 27 touchdowns last year. Also back is senior quarterback/defensive back Jordan Fabry (6-3, 185). Senior offensive lineman Aaron Cox (6-4, 235) is a good one. The defense will be led by senior defensive lineman Cameron Morgue (6-1, 250) and senior linebacker Michael Picone (6-0, 180 with 81 tackles and four fumble recoveries).

* Woodridge (Peninsula) – 11-1, Region 11 semifinalist
The Bulldogs are coming off three straight playoff trips and looking to make an extended postseason run. The offense should be lethal with the return of junior quarterback Mason Lydic (5-11, 180 with 1,615 yards passing and 20 touchdowns), senior running back King Sanders (5-11, 190 with 1,063 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns) and senior offensive lineman Dontae Craft (6-1, 170). All three were first team all-Northeast Inland District. Also back is junior running back/linebacker Robert Singletary (5-8, 190), who ran for eight touchdowns and had 75 tackles last year. Senior receiver Jacob Margroff (5-11, 180) caught 40 passes for 570 yards and seven touchdowns last season. The defense will feature junior linebacker Spencer Robinson (5-9, 195), who was all-district and led the team in tackles (121).

Teams To Watch

* Cardinal Mooney (Youngstown) – 4-5
The Cardinals have one of the state's top senior prospects in linebacker Ray Anderson (6-1, 210, holds offers from Eastern Michigan and Youngstown State).

* Firelands (Oberlin) – 8-3, Region 11 quarterfinalist
The Falcons earned the program's second playoff berth last season. Junior running back Nick Denney (6-0, 170), senior offensive lineman Trevor Stefanski (6-3, 320) and senior linebacker Larry Verhovec (6-0, 225) are back.

* Holy Name (Parma Heights) – 8-4, Region 11 semifinalist
The Green Wave are coming off their first playoff berth since 2005 and just the program's fourth overall. Senior linebacker Colin Costanzo (5-11, 185) has 460 career tackles and is looking for his fourth-straight 100-plus tackle season. Senior offensive lineman Tyler Poff (6-1, 250) is a good one.



* Hubbard – 6-4
The Eagles return their top two tacklers in junior defensive lineman Matt Whittenberger (6-1, 250 with 114 tackles and 24 tackles for loss) and senior linebacker David Hernandez (6-1, 215 with 100 tackles and 23 tackles for loss).

* Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (Chardon) – 7-4, Region 11 quarterfinalist
The Lions have a solid nucleus back in junior linebacker Chase Kline (6-4, 215), senior athlete Savion Grove (5-11, 185), junior defensive lineman Manni Malone (5-10, 215) and junior kicker Gabe Brkic (6-2, 170).

* Perry – 8-2, Region 11 quarterfinalist
The Pirates will feature a stout defense led by the trio of senior defensive back Josh Petruccelli (5-11, 185), senior defensive back Andy Foley (6-2, 190) and junior defensive lineman Hayden Makad (6-3, 260). Senior Noah Kuhn (5-11, 210) anchors the offensive line.

* Streetsboro – 7-3
The Rockets will feature one of the state's top prospects in receiver/defensive back Dakari Carter (5-8, 155). Carter holds nine offers (UC and MAC schools).

* Struthers – 5-5
The Wildcats reached the postseason for the first time since 1999 three years ago. If they get back, senior quarterback/defensive back/punter A.J. Musolino (6-3, 205) will play a large part. Musolino has 41 total touchdowns in two years and holds offers from Air Force, Bowling Green and Kent State.

* Ursuline (Youngstown) – 8-6, state semifinalist, Region 11 champion
The Irish finished the regular season 5-5 and advanced to the Final Four. Key returning seniors are defensive back/receiver Dawalyn Washington (6-0, 188), defensive back/receiver Dakota Hobbs (5-8, 155) and lineman Jeff Marx (6-1, 293).



Keep An Eye On

* Jefferson Area (Jefferson) - 6-4
The Falcons return senior running back Jeremiah Knight (5-11, 170), who ran for 1,593 yards and 21 touchdowns last year.

* Lakeview (Cortland) – 7-4, Region 11 quarterfinalist
Coming off the program's eighth playoff berth, the Bulldogs must replace five all-district players.

* Orange (Pepper Pike) – 6-4
After back-to-back 5-5 seasons, the Lions recorded their first winning season this century.
