Basketball Recap: Falls City Falls Despite Big Games from Jacoby Bangert and Paxton Armbruster

Falls City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Falls City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Paxton Armbruster, who posted 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Jacoby Bangert, who had 14 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Bangert a new career-high in points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Falls City was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.6.

Falls City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Coming up, Falls City will face off against Fairbury at 6:30 p.m. on February 21st. As for Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 84-41 loss against Johnson-Brock on the 14th.
