Softball Recap: Ray Comes Up Short

Ray had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-16 to make it five. They came up short against the St. David Tigers, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Ray saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Barajas, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for St. David, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for St. David, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On St. David's side, Emma Hart was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Camber Jacquez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Coming up, Ray will be playing in front of their home fans against Globe at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Bearcats are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. David, they will venture away from home to face off against Baboquivari at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
