Softball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Morgantown, Buckhannon-Upshur was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears. That's more bragging rights for the Buccaneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Becca Pastorius spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Avery Hamer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Maddy Tucker was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Buckhannon-Upshur pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Fairmont Senior, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Coming up, Buckhannon-Upshur will face off against Woodrow Wilson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Flying Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Buccaneers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fairmont Senior, they will take on Doddridge County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Polar Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
