Baseball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Cougars vs. Memorial Mustangs

For the second straight game, Cypress Creek will face off against Memorial. The Cougars will welcome the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cypress Creek fell victim to Memorial and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mason Nichols was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

The victory (which was Memorial's 12th in a row) raised their record to 16-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19-1.
