Recap: Lutheran Lions vs. Green Mountain Rams
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lutheran Lions had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They snuck past the Rams with a 27-21 win. The win was familiar territory for Lutheran who now have seven in a row.
Lutheran got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Johnson out in front who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Johnson hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Jack Wesolowski also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Despite the loss, Green Mountain still got an impressive performance from Blake Weslin, who rushed for 80 yards, and also threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Beeson, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lutheran's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Green Mountain, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-1.
Lutheran will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Holy Family at 1:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Holy Family will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. Green Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
