Softball Recap: Carmel Takes a Loss

If Carmel was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Marina last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Carmel Padres lost 15-5 to the Aptos Mariners on Tuesday. The Padres were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mariners apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Carmel saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kristen Mastin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Mastin posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another was Lily Beals, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Carmel fell to 2-1. As for Aptos, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Carmel wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-7 win against San Lorenzo Valley on the 7th. As for Aptos, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Pacific Grove on the 11th.
