If Alhambra was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Fairfax on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carl Hayden Community Falcons on Friday. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Alhambra was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-18.

George Mendoza paced Alhambra's offense, picking up ten kills. Mendoza got some help from AlexAnder Lopez and his seven assists. Mendoza was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Alhambra's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Carl Hayden Community, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.

While Alhambra had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
