Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Rio Rico

Rio Rico had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Flowing Wells Caballeros as they made off with a 10-4 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Humberto Picos looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rafael Echeverria, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jay Teso, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Rio Rico hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Rio Rico back to even at 3-3. As for Flowing Wells, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6-1.

Coming up, Rio Rico will be taking part in a tournament against Tucson High Magnet School at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tucson High Magnet School has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.63 runs per game on average), something Rio Rico will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Flowing Wells, they will challenge ThunderRidge at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
