Baseball Recap: Mansfield Find Success

Mansfield's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Troy Trojans 15-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 3, 2024.

Andy Hermansen and Liam Shaut did most of the damage at the plate: Hermansen got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Shaut went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave Shaut a new career-high. Alex Davis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Mansfield lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Mansfield's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Troy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5.

Mansfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-7 loss against Athens on the 7th. As for Troy, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-2 victory against Neumann Regional Academy on the 2nd.
