Football Recap: Owensboro Piles Up the Points Against Apollo

Owensboro had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Apollo Eagles 42-14. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 28 points or more this season.

Leading Owensboro to victory were Evan Hampton and DaMarcus Ganaway Jr. Hampton rushed for 189 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, while Ganaway Jr threw for 196 yards and three TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes. Hampton is becoming a predictor of the Red Devils' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). A healthy portion of Ganaway Jr's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Kingston Dillard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Owensboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 50.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 209.

Owensboro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ty Ashley and Mikai Kindle.

Owensboro's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Apollo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
