Volleyball Recap: Grove City Takes a Loss

Grove City was the 3-1 winner over Sharon when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Grove City took Sharon into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 13-25, 21-25, 25-14, 16-14.

Reagan Fischer paced Grove City's offense, picking up ten kills. Fischer really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 13. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Sharon was led to victory by Emmalie Yobe and Dani Currie. Yobe had 29 assists and 15 digs, while Currie had 20 digs, six kills, and three aces. Yobe is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Addie McFann was another key player, getting 16 digs and one assist.

Grove City's defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. As for Sharon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4-1.

Grove City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Titusville on the 30th. As for Sharon, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Sharpsville on the 30th.
