Softball Recap: Southern Wells Beats Lakewood Park Christian for Their Third Straight Victory

Southern Wells waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers 13-3. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alexis Pennington made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kenzie Paxson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Remi Holmes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Southern Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Southern Wells' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-19. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coming up, Southern Wells will face off against Fort Wayne North Side at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Legends have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they will be playing at home against Garrett at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Railroaders have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
