Baseball Recap: Urbana Gets the Win

Urbana's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Greeneview Rams 7-6. That's more bragging rights for the Hillclimbers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Grady Lantz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Lantz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shane Hoffman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season. Ronnie Weimer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Urbana's record now sits at 4-6. As for Greeneview, they moved to 7-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

When Urbana and Greeneview next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Hillclimbers will try to stop London's three-game winning streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Greeneview will challenge Perry and their three-game winning streak at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
