Basketball Recap: Hayfield Takes a Loss

Hayfield and West Potomac squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hayfield had to settle for second. They took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Potomac Wolverines. The Hawks have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

West Potomac had a senior duo take command as Olivia Jones posted 18 points and eight steals and Jill Humphreys went 6-for-11 en route to 12 points and eight boards. Those eight steals gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lina Hashimi, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Hayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 20-8. As for West Potomac, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-3.

Hayfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Potomac, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 41-39 victory against South County on the 27th.
