Baseball Recap: Spring Grove Takes a Loss

Spring Grove fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against New Oxford on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonials. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 13-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Konner Marshall was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Marshall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Grove, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

This is the second loss in a row for Spring Grove and nudges their season record down to 3-3-1. As for New Oxford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Spring Grove will take on Gettysburg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Oxford, they will square off against Susquehannock at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
