Basketball Recap: Amaya Woolford's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cienega over Buena

Cienega was the 46-45 winner over Buena when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cienega Bobcats fell to the Buena Colts 46-41. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cienega lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amaya Woolford, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Woolford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Emma Guevara was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Buena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Icsiss Perez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was London Richardson, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 14 points and five steals.

Cienega's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Buena, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.

Cienega has already played their next contest (against Nogales), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Buena has already played their next matchup, a 64-33 loss against Mica Mountain on the 31st.
