Football Game Preview: Hun Raiders vs. The First Academy Royals

The Hun Raiders will head out to challenge The First Academy Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hun's defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so The First Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Hun is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: St. Frances Academy, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Hun was ranked fourth). The Raiders came up short against the Panthers on Friday, falling 29-7. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Even if they lost, Hun's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jake Broggi, Luke Wafle, and Seth Clarke, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in St. Frances Academy's side was Broggi, who picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (3.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, The First Academy started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against The St. James Performance Academy. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 41-40 to the Strivers. The Royals were up 40-22 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Hun will need to focus on slowing down Demetrice McCray, one of several The First Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 55 yards and three scores, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. The First Academy also got help from BRIAN WILLIAMS, who showed off his sure hands for 93 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for The First Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Hun, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
