Baseball Recap: Chattanooga Central Comes Up Short

Chattanooga Central dropped down to 8-15 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grace Baptist Academy Golden Eagles by a score of 12-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 two weeks ago.

As for Grace Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Grace Baptist Academy's part, Ryan Holton was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Holton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hatcher, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chattanooga Central will challenge Soddy Daisy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grace Baptist Academy, they will host Berean Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
