Softball Game Preview: Peaster Greyhounds vs. Holliday Eagles

Peaster is 0-6 against Holliday since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Greyhounds will welcome the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Peaster will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Peaster barely beat Breckenridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Buckaroos on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Payton Kreh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Selah Salmons, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted four or more RBI the last four times she's played. Abigail Wiley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Peaster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Holliday was able to grind out a solid win over Lindsay on Monday, taking the game 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Peaster pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Holliday, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8-1.
