Softball Game Preview: Eminence Eels vs. Providence Cristo Rey Wolves

Eminence is a perfect 6-0 against Providence Cristo Rey since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eels will welcome the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Eminence made easy work of Greenwood Christian Academy and carried off a 16-1 victory. Considering the Eels have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Providence Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 23-12 to Indiana School for the Deaf. Even if the Wolves couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Lizzy Rosales was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. She also put up a hit, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tina Tackett, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Eminence is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Providence Cristo Rey, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Eminence's way against Providence Cristo Rey in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Eminence made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Eels repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
