Volleyball Recap: West Franklin Triumphs

West Franklin lost to Santa Fe Trail back in October of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Chargers 2-1.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day West Franklin got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-17, 22-25, 25-17.

West Franklin can attribute much of their success to Berkley Love, who had 13 digs and five assists. Those five assists gave Love a new career-high. Kennedy Huggard also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Santa Fe Trail's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydnee Sleichter, who had 11 digs and two assists. Sleichter has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

West Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. As for Santa Fe Trail, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-7.

West Franklin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Anderson County on the 4th. As for Santa Fe Trail, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Baldwin on the 4th.
