Basketball Recap: Antelope Piles Up the Points Against Phoenix Day School for the Deaf

Antelope posted their biggest win since February 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They breezed by the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Roadrunners to the tune of 61-28. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-17.

Antelope found their leader in sophomore Trane Figueroa, who posted 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Figueroa a new career-high in assists (four). Kevin Yeghoian was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Antelope was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phoenix Day School for the Deaf only posted one assist.

Several Roadrunners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donovan Etheridge, who scored five points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Garcia, who earned eight points.

Antelope is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Antelope wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-46 victory against Bagdad on the 16th. Phoenix Day School for the Deaf has also already played their next matchup, a 51-27 defeat against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy on the 16th.
