Softball Recap: Torrey Pines Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Torrey Pines can now relate to. They fell 10-5 to the Rancho Bernardo Broncos on Friday. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Broncos earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Rebecca Clayton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Gutierrez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Torrey Pines moved to 17-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Rancho Bernardo, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Torrey Pines and Rancho Bernardo will both be playing La Costa Canyon the next time they take the field. The Falcons will host the Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Broncos will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
