Basketball Recap: West Stokes Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Claire Edmonds and Kathryn Davis

While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, West Stokes was not quite North Forsyth's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the North Forsyth Vikings by a score of 37-34. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-28 back in January.

West Stokes' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kathryn Davis, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 boards, and Claire Edmonds, who went 6-for-15 on her way to 16 points and three steals. That's the most rebounds Davis has posted since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, West Stokes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Jylyia Mizell was her usual excellent self, putting up 22 points in addition to eight boards and six steals for North Forsyth. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mizell has scored at least a third of North Forsyth's points. Ariel Odugba was another key player, earning six points along with 13 rebounds and five steals.

West Stokes' loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for North Forsyth, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

West Stokes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-16 defeat against T.W. Andrews on the 13th. As for North Forsyth, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-34 win against McMichael on the 12th.
