Softball Game Preview: George C. Marshall Statesmen vs. Yorktown Patriots

The George C. Marshall Statesmen are taking a road trip to face off against the Yorktown Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. George C. Marshall has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

George C. Marshall is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against McLean on Wednesday. They came up short against the Highlanders, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, Yorktown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Langley. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

George C. Marshall now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Yorktown, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

George C. Marshall was able to grind out a solid victory over Yorktown in their previous meeting back in April, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Statesmen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
