Recap: Sullivan Redskins vs. Dieterich Movin Maroons
After a string of five wins, the Sullivan Redskins's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 57-45 to Dieterich. Sullivan has struggled against Dieterich recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dieterich to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Gephart, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gephart has scored at least 25% of Dieterich's points. Lucas Westendorf was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Sullivan's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Dieterich, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sullivan will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Villa Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Dieterich and Paris will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Paris will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 526th, while Dieterich is ranked 242nd).
