Football Preview: Greenwood Bulldogs vs. Southside Mavericks        
        
		
             Greenwood has gone 8-0 against Southside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further  on Friday. The Greenwood Bulldogs are taking a road trip to  square off against the Southside Mavericks  at 7:00  p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greenwood has 21 straight  wins, Southside has five straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
 Last Friday, Greenwood took their  matchup  with ease, bagging  a  63-14 victory over Van Buren. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 35  points or more this season.
 It was another big night for  Kane Archer, who threw for 307 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown. He has been hot recently, having  posted four or more  passing touchdowns the last four times he's  played. Greenwood also got help from  Grant Karnes, who showed off his sure hands for 98  receiving yards.
 Greenwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as  Lawyer Thornsberry,  Radley O'Neal,  Kaylor Jasna,  and  Dj Dobbins picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Van Buren's side was  Paul Brixey, who made 15 total tackles.
 Meanwhile, Southside came up short against Russellville on Friday and fell  45-38.
 The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was  Blake Forsgren, who threw for 367 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. He is becoming a predictor of Southside's success: when he posts  at  least 250  passing yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).  Jayden Webb was another key player, picking up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
 Greenwood's win was  their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
 Friday's  match will pit two  of the most dominant  signal callers against one another:  Archer and  Forsgren. Archer has put up some stellar numbers this year, and currently owns excellent season averages 292.5 passing yards and has 35 passing touchdowns on the season. For his part,  Forsgren has averaged 263.8 passing yards and has 21 passing touchdowns on the season.
 Greenwood didn't have too much breathing room in their  game against Southside  in their previous matchup  back in September of 2021, but they still walked away with  a  54-48 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Southside's  David Sorg, who threw for 448 yards and six touchdowns.
