Softball Recap: Sonora Wins Going Away Against Eldorado

Sonora won the last time they faced Eldorado and things went their way on Thursday too. The Broncos put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 22-2 victory. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Stefani Trevino made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Liliana Gallegos was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Valerie DeLeon was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sonora has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Coming up, Sonora will take on Forsan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buffaloes will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eldorado, they will square off against Reagan County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
