Volleyball Game Preview: Valley Pirates vs. Pinon Eagles

The Valley Pirates will face off against the Pinon Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Valley is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Thoreau on Friday. The Pirates fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hawks 25-20 in the first set.

Valley actually scored more points across those five sets (109-106), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 20-25, 18-25, 27-25, 25-20, 16-14.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Pinon and Round Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Elks on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Elks: they've now lost three in a row.

While Pinon ultimately came up short, they really made Round Valley work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-15.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Pinon, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-6.

Everything went Valley's way against Pinon in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Valley made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
