Baseball Recap: Southwest SD Triumphs

Southwest SD took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Mar Vista, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders won by a run and slipped past the Mariners 10-9. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by just one run.

Southwest SD got a massive performance out of Miguel Rivera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Rivera a new career-high. Aquiles Lugo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Southwest SD and bumps their season record up to 12-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Mar Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Southwest SD will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mar Vista: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
