Volleyball Recap: Independence's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Independence entered their tilt with Northwestern on Monday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Huskies. The Blue Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

Independence had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-15, 25-10, 25-19.

Independence was led to victory by Sofia Pichert and Julia Jurkiewicz. Pichert had 17 digs and two aces, while Jurkiewicz had 18 assists and seven digs. Jurkiewicz is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season. Mia Mudra also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Independence's record is now 8-1. As for Northwestern, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Independence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against St. Joseph Academy on the 16th. As for Northwestern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Norwayne on the 16th.
