Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tony Clark-Nelson and Tanahri Johnson Lead New Hanover to Victory

New Hanover lost to Ashley back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Wildcats walked away with a 32-22 victory over the Screaming Eagle. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Leading New Hanover to victory were Tanahri Johnson and Tony Clark-Nelson. Johnson rushed for 54 yards and a pair of scores, while Clark-Nelson gained 138 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in passer rating (118.1).

Despite the loss, Ashley still got an impressive performance from Bryson Lovelace, who rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Lovelace has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.

The win got New Hanover back to even at 4-4. As for Ashley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
