Football Recap: Yazoo City Takes a Loss

The Yazoo City Indians were beaten by the Ridgeland Titans 48-20 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Titans are ranked 38th).

Ridgeland was led to victory by Ashton Gorden and Kadin Qualls. Gorden gained 152 total yards and two touchdowns, while Qualls picked up 52 receiving yards and two scores. Gorden really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 76 yards.

Yazoo City's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Ridgeland, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Yazoo City will head out to challenge Vicksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Gators' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ridgeland, they will be playing at home against Natchez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 8.8 points per game this season, so the Titans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
