Volleyball Recap: Independence Has No Trouble Against Youngker

Independence had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Youngker on Tuesday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Roughriders with a sharp 3-0 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Roughriders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Independence took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-10, 25-11.

Tayvian Lebeau paced Independence's offense, picking up seven kills. Lebeau got some help from Diego Benitez and his 14 assists. Jesus Neblina controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Youngker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-20.

Looking ahead, Youngker will be playing at home against Desert Edge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Scorpions will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Roughriders surely won't give up without a fight. Independence will be paying especially close attention to Youngker's matchup: after Youngker faces off against Desert Edge, they'll take on Independence again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
