Baseball Game Preview: Cannon Cougars vs. Ballantyne Ridge Wolves

The Cannon Cougars will face off against the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ballantyne Ridge took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cannon, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Cannon turned things around against Mallard Creek on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 12-3 victory. The Cougars' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Thomas Smith looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Mierzwa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Reid Morgan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Cannon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Ballantyne Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 7-1 to Butler.

Ballantyne Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Cannon, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
