Football Recap: Strong Effort on D from Cole Wyatt and Cruz Alejandre Leads Cedaredge over Prospect Ridge Academy

The Cedaredge Bruins didn't have too much trouble with the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners on Saturday as they won 30-16. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

Kolter Mann was his usual excellent self, rushing for 126 yards and three TDs. Cedaredge is undefeated when Mann posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cedaredge proved: they limited Prospect Ridge Academy to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least 11 total tackles, Mann stood above the rest. He rushed for 126 yards and three scores. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in August.

Cedaredge's defense didn't let Emerson Mallon, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cole Wyatt and Cruz Alejandre, who racked up all five sacks between them.

Although Prospect Ridge Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Josh Ranjit and Hayden J Foster.

Cedaredge's record is now 5-3. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Cedaredge will look to defend their home field on Friday against Olathe at 7:00 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Mann and Hunter Lynch. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Flatirons Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Miners will be up against the Bison's rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.13 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
