Atlantic Shores Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Carter has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Hampton Christian Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against StoneBridge on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Cavaliers. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Reese Krantz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elli Turner was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Dennis, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
Hampton Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as StoneBridge only posted an OBP of .318.
Atlantic Shores Christian now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hampton Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Atlantic Shores Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Hampton Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
