Softball Recap: Park Vista Find Success

Park Vista proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Spanish River Sharks 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cobras have posted against the Sharks since March 2, 2021.

Angeline Mergen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Katie Ristau was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaganne Glidden, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Park Vista pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Spanish River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Park Vista will look to defend their home field on Thursday against South Fork at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Park Vista 2.3, South Fork 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Spanish River, they will head out on the road to face off against Boca Raton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boca Raton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Spanish River will no doubt try to take advantage of.
