Basketball Recap: Piedmont Academy Cougars vs. Brentwood War Eagles

Piedmont Academy kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 64-41 to the Brentwood War Eagles. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the War Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Piedmont Academy lost, don't look at Sarah Ellen Stroud. Despite the final result, she posted 31 points and six steals.

Brentwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bailey Barron, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. Barron is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Jones, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Piedmont Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-51 loss against Edmund Burke Academy on the 20th. As for Brentwood, they will face off against Frederica Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
