Basketball Game Preview: Clyde Fliers vs. Shelby Whippets

The Clyde Fliers will venture away from home to face off against the Shelby Whippets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clyde saw some tournament action on Thursday. They secured a 52-48 W over Upper Sandusky.

Meanwhile, Shelby waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-50 W against the Minutemen.

Clyde better keep an eye on Eve Schwemley. She was instrumental in Shelby's win, going 7-for-16 en route to 25 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Schwemley a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Serena Ramsey, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 14 points.

Shelby pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points over those games. As for Clyde, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.

Clyde came up short against Shelby in their previous matchup back in January of 2018, falling 56-51. Can Clyde avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
