Softball Recap: Castaic Takes a Loss

Castaic had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it five. They lost 8-0 to the Valencia Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.

Castaic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatum McAfee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

As for Valencia, their record is now 10-6. Considering they have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Valencia's side, the result came thanks to Carly Kearns's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Kearns has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Bolder, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Blair Rune, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Castaic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Hart on the 29th. As for Valencia, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-0 victory against Canyon on the 29th.
