Volleyball Game Preview: Whitefield Academy Lions vs. St. Joseph D Defenders

The Whitefield Academy Lions will head out on the road to take on the St. Joseph D Defenders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whitefield Academy took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Cornerstone Family.

Whitefield Academy never let Cornerstone Family on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-16, 25-22.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph D hadn't done well against Cornerstone Family recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Defenders walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Saints.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-19, 27-29, 27-25.

Whitefield Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. St. Joseph D's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8.

Whitefield Academy took their victory against St. Joseph D in their previous matchup on September 2nd by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
