Soccer Game Preview: Hayfield vs. Mount Vernon

The Hayfield Hawks will head out to face off against the Mount Vernon Majors at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayfield's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Mount Vernon will have to contend with a Hayfield squad hungry for a win, something the team hasn't seen yet this season. Hayfield fell just short of Falls Church by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 4-1 to Edison.

Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Hayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8-1.

Hayfield took their victory against Mount Vernon when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
