Volleyball Recap: Wethersfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Wethersfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Newington Nor'easters by a score of 3-2. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Nor'easters earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Wethersfield took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Wethersfield's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for Newington, their victory ended an eight-match drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Wethersfield will take on rival Southington at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Newington is set to square off against their familiar foe Platt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
